Far… (2008) and the games of different layers of identity, Discreets deaths (2004) and the random flow of masks… The solo is for me a real standard of polyphonic art. It’s also a priceless dimension able to question the link between the body and the politics.
My new work is born from the choreographic work beginning with Discreet deaths, a solo based on different representations of death, archived by internet search engines. I experienced a body with multiple figures, endless transformations, an integral memory able to record, erase or register different ingredients of the modern reality. With this new creation, I intend to make the stage, a “database” of the different national representations and their evolution through time.
How does an ideology embody the sensitive forms? What can authorities expect from a work of art? What are the marks left by political history on the body? Never a society, neither conservative, liberal or revolutionnary, developped itself considering art as an incidental production.
Political history can't be taken apart from its incarnations. Art dedicated to a nation, heraldic science, futurism, commemorative aesthetic, socialist realism, bodies erected as statues or monuments, national idols, national graphic arts... all these ideas are what I will attempt to materialize with a body and videos on stage.
The body aesthetic and the physical masterliness close to Body Art will be ways for me to include how the body can be transformed by certain governments, and to litteraly incorporate the colours of national emblems and governmental plastic. On a stage made of delusions, where the reality is lost in virtual spaces through visual and acoustic devices, what is at stake, it's the dissolution of a body built around official ideals.
